Health Benefits of Raw Honey

There are many benefits to local raw honey! It contains 22 amino acids, 27 minerals, and 5000 enzymes as well as a multitude of vitamins and phytonutrients.

Phytonutrients are compounds plants use to help protect them from harm. They provide both antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits which help to protect your body from cell damage caused by free radicals. They boost your immune system and may help reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer.

Honey can also be antibacterial, antifungal, and an antiseptic as it naturally contains hydrogen peroxide. It is used in hospitals in Europe to boost healing time in burns and ulcers and to combat infections in wounds.

Honey is also a sore throat remedy. Try adding it to hot tea with lemon or take 1 to 2 teaspoons as a cough suppressant. Allergy sufferers have found relief by consuming a tablespoon of local raw honey daily. The consumption of raw honey and cinnamon has proven beneficial to blood sugar management.

Please note: Raw honey should not be fed to babies less than 1 year of age.

Simple Harvest and No Heat

Harvesting honey is a simple process and should remain that way to preserve the benefits of this sweet treat. Raw honey can be strained, but not filtered nor heated beyond 95°F.

We strain our honey through two stainless steel screens but never heat or pasteurize it. This allows the honey to retain its nutritional properties and healthful benefits. We do not medicate our bees, nor do we feed antibiotics. When they need supplemental feeding, we only use pure cane sugar to avoid GMO sugar beets.

In addition to raw honey, we offer pure raw honeycomb. The wax contains very-long-chain fatty acids and long-chain alcohols, or esters. Studies show that these fatty acids and alcohols significantly lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol. They also reduce insulin levels, which promotes healthy glucose metabolism and normalizes liver function.
