Not sure how to care for your ethical sheepskin rug? No worries—we include our own sheepskin care guide so you can keep it fluffy and beautiful for years.

“Icelandic sheepskins are beautiful and naturally colored, but so much more. Sheepskins create a natural thermostatic effect that keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Each fiber can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without seeming wet (cotton’s limit is 8%). No man-made fiber possesses the virtues of 100% sheepskin. It is naturally non-allergenic, and resistant to water, dirt, flame, and bacteria. It will last for years with minimum care—by brushing, shaking, or hanging on a line outside. If needed it can be spot or hand washed with a gentle soap and water. What can you use a sheepskin for? They are great for sleeping on, gentle on the skin, temperature regulating and allow for airflow helping to alleviate rashes and avoid bed sores. They are cushioning and comforting—great for infant car seats or strollers; as well as bed underlays, car, wheelchair, or saddle seat covers. They make beautiful throws on furniture, wall hangings or rugs; they’ll become your favorite cozy spot.”
