Free Range Pasture Raised Poultry
At Telderer’s Rainbows End Farm, we raise a number of pastured poultry, including laying hens, meat chickens, and turkeys.
Each bird arrives when they are just a day old, cute and fluffy. They are very vulnerable to fluctuating temperatures and predators at this age so they spend the first couple of weeks in a brooder which is safe, draft-free, and temperature-controlled. Poultry mature quickly so in just a couple weeks, they are moved outside to portable pens on pasture, where they can fully carry out their favorite bird activities: foraging for grass and clover, scratching for bugs, breathing fresh air, and soaking up vitamin D from the summer sun. This is the true definition of free range poultry.
The meat from our pastured poultry has a firmer texture, higher levels of Omega-3s, and a lower fat content than conventionally raised chicken. The eggs from our organically-fed, pastured layers are superior in taste, looks, and nutritional value than the eggs in the grocery store. They have less cholesterol and saturated fat, and more fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E. Our pastured poultry live happily and practice their natural behaviors as free range poultry. In the end, they provide you with food rich in essential nutrients for healthy heart functions, immune systems, and brains.

Our pasture raised chickens enjoy their lives and get to live out their natural instincts, unlike the chickens raised in conventional factory farms. This is not only a better life for them, but a better product for you!

The meat of organic and pastured turkey is better for your health. It is free of the antibiotics, growth hormones, and chemicals present in conventionally-raised turkeys.

Our organically-fed, pasture-raised egg layers will probably be the first animals you see if you visit us. Our heritage chickens roam freely around the barnyard. You’ll see them scratching for insects and taking dust baths under the evergreen trees.
